Shelley Stienstra, President

Shelley specializes in managing national and international programs with focus and vision. Her significant achievements, successes, and well-earned reputation are due to her hands-on management style, her eye for detail, and meticulous management of all areas of program design, development and delivery. With over twenty years of experience in the field, Shelley is a master of collaboration and creating strategic visions.

Shelley has extensive experience with the specific needs of the mining industry, and has well-developed long-term relationships with many of the industry leaders as well as key sustainable development stakeholders. She has provided vital strategic support for the following mining sector events, among many other international congresses:

  • PDAC Annual Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange

Shelley’s leadership ability is enhanced by her own creativity and skill in the areas of program design. She provides strategic conference assessment and coordination throughout the planning process, defining and allocating portfolios, setting roles and responsibilities, and laying out timelines, then ensuring that all elements come together smoothly for opening day.

Kathryn Durant, Vice President

Kathryn brings over twenty years of business expertise to her role in Tridura. Her greatest strengths are in leading the design, development and execution of highly creative and innovative programs both public and invitational.

Kathryn’s specialty of expertise includes facilitating creative collaboration, program design and development, and helping clients rebrand their businesses and procedures through innovation, ingenuity and inspiration. Her training is frequently employed in “brainstorming” sessions to establish program themes, elements and deliverables consistent with client objectives. Kathryn’s accomplishments include:

  • The Clayton Diggs Mining Project: An experiential learning simulation on sustainable development;
  • MINEXPO 2004 - A Forum on Sustainable Development: Today’s;
  • New Grad Program: An intensive “boot camp” for internees at a national telecom firm;
  • First Canadian Place 25th Anniversary: A month-long series of celebratory events recognizing one of Ontario’s premier office and retail complexes.

Prior to joining Tridura, Kathryn had a distinguished career as a senior marketing and sales executive within the telecommunications industry.

Stephen Barringer, Project Coordinator

Stephen has worked in event management for over eight years, bringing his practical skill in convention technology, his memory for detail, and his communications creativity to Tridura’s conference management; he has worked in registration, exhibition service, program development, marketing research, communications piece development, and technical program management.

Lorraine Behnan, Creative Director

Lorraine Behnan has played a significant role in corporate mergers, acquisitions, and internal changes by offering employees the skills and strategies to successfully navigate the transitions. She creates speeches and workshops that are both highly motivational and strongly practical. A virtual encyclopedia on the newest business trends, Lorraine fully understands the demands of today’s business environment and the challenges of keeping current with best practices while meeting daily responsibilities. She is connected with the most up-to-date resources that help companies and individuals to evolve and excel. Lorraine skillfully blends theatrical ability and business insight to create useful, memorable presentations.

While on the Drama Faculty at the University of Guelph, Lorraine developed and taught the extremely popular Public Presentation course. Lorraine is the author of Spotlight on Presentations: A Practical Handbook for Presentation Excellence and Shortstuff, a playfully illustrated book that celebrates uniqueness. Her instructional audio CD How to Communicate to Any Audience has helped hundreds of professionals to improve client relationships and interpersonal communication skills. Lorraine has been a featured guest on television talk shows, and her articles on communication and change frequently appear in trade journals and magazines. Audiences consistently commend her strong content and excellent delivery.

Sean Bradley, Creative Team

As a videographer, editor, director and producer, Sean Bradley has been involved in film and video production for over fifteen years. Beginning as a lighting cameraman, he has shot, edited, directed and produced hundreds of spots, shorts, documentaries, corporate videos, live events and films. Today Sean provides Tridura Productions with a full service broadcast production and post-production offering, ranging from straight-up video to live Webcasting.

Service, learning, and listening to each client’s unique culture are the keys to the strength Sean brings to every production. His gift is to capture the moments that matter, then assemble them into integrated and powerful stories. Sean focuses his trained eye to bring a client’s vision to life, while adding his own award-winning elements of style and design.

Sandra Balcovske, Creative Team

From live, improvised theatre to high-profile Canadian television, Sandra - as both writer and director - is one of the leading lights of the Toronto theatrical and entertainment community. She has worked as an educator in improvisation for the Second City comedy troupe for over ten years, also teaching at the University of Alberta, and has served as director and head writer for eight of the troupe’s shows. She has also written for CBC-TV and Canadian radio (The Neighbours, Material World) and wrote Go Girls for SNS Productions.Sandra also collaborated with Linda Griffiths and Karen Hines to write the award winning shows Poxy Lips, Oh Baby, and Game of Inches.

Sandra is the founder of Catalyst Theatre, a company dedicated to the creation of educational theatre productions. She has written and created numerous corporate industrial shows, productions that combine corporate education with exciting entertainment to create memorable, effective training experiences. Her clients include for IBM, the Royal Bank of Canada, Coca-Cola, TD Bank, Xerox, and M&M Meats, among others. As the primary writer and director for the Clayton Diggs Mining Competition, Sandra will ensure a high-energy, high-impact event.

Clayton DiggsClayton Diggs, the program's lead facilitator, has struck gold and wants to start a mining project near the town of Diggsville. But how can the competing needs of the company, the community and the environment be effectively met? Working in groups of 6 people, team members take on the role of various stakeholders and score points by completing a series of challenges.
